About
Alex has been a mental health practitioner for many years and has professional training in both individual and group therapy. His experience and training has equipped him with the skills to assess and draw on a range of theories and modalities when working with patients, both with adults and young people.
These theories and modalities are informed by psychodynamic theory, neuroscience, mindfulness and creative arts. In addition to this, he has experience working within the principles of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), providing skills and techniques to help ground and regulate emotional states. Alex is also a fully qualified eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner, specialising in trauma therapy.
Alex believes that many of us experience the world through our bodies so, as part of his practice, he incorporates body-based interventions including experiential, somatic and sensory work.
Position at Priory
As a permanent member of the general psychiatric and child and adolescent mental health services (CAHMS) team at Priory Hospital North London, Alex runs weekly groups, including trauma psycho-education, mindfulness practice, psychotherapy and art therapy. He provides individual therapy for patients struggling with a range of difficulties including generalised anxiety, depression and trauma (post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD). Alex believes that everyone deserves a safe space to explore emotions - somewhere they can experience unconditional acceptance, positive reflection and enduring hope.
Alex is committed to a regulatory framework and follow the standards of proficiency set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
