About
I am dedicated to enhancing the mental and physical wellbeing of the people I support. I am a trainee health psychologist with extensive experience in the NHS, community services and the private sector. I offer a variety of services using a person-centred approach, designed to improve clients’ quality of life. My holistic approach to health and wellbeing focuses on third-wave therapy models, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). My specialty in health psychology focuses on promoting health, preventing and treating disease and illness, and understanding how psychological, behavioural and cultural factors contribute to physical health and illness. Health psychologists help motivate people to make health-conscious decisions, such as not smoking, healthy eating, physical activity, and sleep hygiene, to prevent illness. Health psychology also focuses on understanding and supporting people to accept, cope and recover from illness.
As a whole, health psychology is a specialty area that focuses on how biology, psychology, behaviour and social factors influence health and illness. Other terms, such as medical psychology and behavioural medicine, are sometimes used interchangeably with the term, health psychology.
