About

Andrea Roth is an integrative transpersonal therapist who joined the therapy services team at Priory Hospital early in 2019. She works on a 1:1 basis with adult clients. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings both in London and Bristol within the charity sector and in private practice. Andrea has experience of working on both a long term and short term basis.

Andrea specialises in attachment and developmental based trauma and it is this model which underpins and forms the core of her work with clients. She believes that earlier attachment with primary care givers has an impact of how we relate to the world and others in the present time.

Training

Andrea graduated from the Re.Vision centre for Transpersonal Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy in London. She moved on to complete a Diploma in Attachment Based Therapy. Andrea draws upon Psychodynamic, Jungian, Developmental and transpersonal perspectives.

Andrea is committed to ongoing self and professional development and has completed further short courses in various interests; trauma, NLP, dream work, feminine psychology, shadow and mirror work.

She remains inspired by, and is often known to quote from, the works of CG Jung, Bessel Van der Kolk, Peter Levine and John Bowlby, Donald Winnicott; leaders in the field of trauma and developmental psychology.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Diploma in Attachment Based Therapy
  • Diploma in Integrative Psychosynthesis Counselling

I like to take both a relational and analytic approach using various models to look deeply at issues from past which may be affecting one’s life in the present. Unpacking and re-framing painful experiences helps find meaning in our complicated world. This ‘meaning-making’ approach puts soul at the heart of human growth. I believe transformation is possible when one is able to create a narrative of painful experiences. My philosophy being that it is not always what happens to us, but how we live with and assimilate experience and learn from these events in our lives to make them meaningful that becomes important. I like working with felt sense and the Field approach (relationship and phenomena manifesting between client and therapist) encompassing a holistic approach; mind, body and spirit and invite all aspects into the work.
