Angela Kattri

Integrative Therapist

About

As an experienced therapist, my work is wide ranging. Some of the key areas of counselling I specialise in are alcohol, drug and gambling addiction, depression, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, self-harm, post-traumatic stress disorder, and self-esteem/self-worth issues.

Position at Priory

I am qualified in BTEC level 5 in therapeutic counselling as an integrative therapist. My approach is rooted in humanistic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I also take a flexible approach, working with individuals using different theories and models such as CFT, DBT, EMDR, ACT and relationship therapy. I assess the needs of the individual and collaboratively choose a model, or a combination of models and interventions, that best fit their needs.

I have worked in the addiction field since 2004, offering short and long-term therapy. I also work on the general psychiatric inpatient ward. My approach is warm and friendly, offering honesty, transparency, compassion and empathy throughout the processes of therapy. I am committed and adhere to the ethical framework, always professional in my therapeutic practice.

I believe all individuals have the potential to live happy and content lives. For some, occasionally this can be very difficult, challenging and distressing, as various problems, worries and strains can impact their wellbeing and physical health. I strive in helping individuals to process their blocks, and to see the progress they have achieved. I find once individuals are able to move on with living fulfilled and enriching lives, this is incredibly rewarding and satisfying for me.

In my spare time I enjoy working out at the gym, doing various types of exercise from aerobics to weights and yoga. I find relaxation through reading, cooking, baking and also take pleasure in long walks and being one with nature. I regularly meditate as this helps me feel calm, connected and grounded.
