About
Caroline has worked at Priory since 2007 and is a senior psychotherapist based in the adult mental health service at Altrincham. She has many years’ experience in treating a wide range of complex mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, abuse, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), along with emotionally unstable personality disorders (EUPD).
She is an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist (BABCP) and a certified schema therapist (ISST). Caroline is also trained in mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT/MBSR) and compassion focused therapy (CFT) and uses both these approaches within her therapeutic work. She is also trained in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Caroline graduated with a degree in mental health nursing from Lancaster University in 2002 and has a further degree in cognitive behavioural therapy from Newcastle University in 2008. She is an accredited member of the British Association Of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and a certified member of the Institute of Schema Therapists (ISST).
For many years, Caroline contributed to the development and facilitation of the group therapy programme at Priory Hospital Altrincham. This involved facilitating CBT depression groups, CBT for anxiety management groups and mindfulness groups, for over 10 years. She also inducted and mentored many other therapists in facilitating these groups.
Caroline later moved to the outpatient trauma and schema therapy service where she now provides assessments and ongoing individual psychotherapy for a range of complex problems. Her work now involves a full caseload of patients needing trauma and schema therapy, for a wide range of multi-diagnostic and complex disorders.
In addition to the above, Caroline is also a mentor and clinical supervisor for other therapist within the team and is involved in helping other therapists to build their expertise towards best practice and accreditation.
