About
Dr Dominic de Souza has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2007 in the NHS and holds practicing privileges at the Priory Hospital North London.
He takes a recovery-orientated and holistic approach, working with a range of therapists and specialising in the assessment and treatment of conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), psychosis, substance misuse, addictions and adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He also has extensive experience of working with personality disorders and complex trauma. He promotes diversity, equality and inclusion in his practice.
His additional forensic and legal training provides further expertise in preparing medico legal reports ranging from criminal cases to employment/occupational matters and giving expert advice in court.
As a Royal College examiner and tutor, he is involved in teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students. He is also psychiatric advisor for health insurance providers.
Training
Dr Dominic de Souza qualified from Leeds University in 1996 with an MBChB and BSc. He further trained in Psychiatry in rural Queensland and Melbourne, Australia for several years before returning to the UK to join the Royal Free Hospital Psychiatric Training Scheme in North London. He has been approved on the GMC Specialist Register since 2007 and has been in the independent sector since 2010.
