About
Dr Perry joined Priory Hospital Ticehurst House, in East Sussex, in 2006 and was appointed Lead Consultant for the therapy service there. She has also been Lead Consultant for the day therapy service at Priory Hospital Hayes Grove.
Training
Dr Perry did her medical training at St George's Hospital in London, qualifying in 1991. Following her pre-registration year, she joined the St George's psychiatric training scheme and gained membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1995. She then went on to do higher psychiatric training, specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including working for over two years with Dr Lynne Drummond at the specialist OCD unit at Springfield Hospital in Tooting, which is now part of the national NHS service for severe, treatment-resistant OCD. Whilst completing her higher training, Dr Perry spent several months as a Locum Consultant at the OCD inpatient unit at the Bethlem Hospital (part of the Maudsley service), which is also now part of the national OCD service.
She did her specialist CBT training in Oxford, which is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for CBT, and gained her Diploma in Cognitive Therapy in 1997. She is accredited as a CBT Therapist by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
In 2000, Dr Perry gained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in psychotherapy (CBT) and was entered on to the specialist register. She was appointed as Consultant in charge of the CBT service for the City & Hackney locality, part of the East London & The City NHS Trust. She then further developed this service over the next six years, before leaving the NHS to set up in private practice.
Research Interests
As well as operating her private practice, Dr Perry is an external examiner for the Diploma in Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapy at the University of London (St George's). She also sits on the Medical Advisory Panel for Maternal OCD, an initiative which aims to raise the profile of OCD in mothers.
