About
Dr. Rina Gupta is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a particular interest in women’s issues and perinatal psychiatry which is addressing mental health problems during pregnancy and following childbirth. Her interests originated from her dual training and time working within obstetrics and gynecology.
She works as a visiting consultant at The Priory Hospital in Chelmsford where she has been working since 2012 practising during the evenings on weekdays and on weekends. Alongside her time at The Priory Hospital Chelmsford, Dr. Gupta also works as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the NHS at Broomfield Hospital where she specialises in perinatal issues on an acute inpatient mother and Baby ward as well as for the Specialist Psychosis team in the Community.
Training
She is actively involved in training and teaching to health professionals from all areas of medicine which include doctors, nurses, midwives and health visitors.
Research interests
- Perinatal issues including post natal depression, puerperal psychosis including pre-conceptual counseling for woman with an established mental health disorder and who are planning a pregnancy
- Anxiety and other related disorders
- Mood disorders including bipolar affective disorder and depression
- ADHD
Languages
- Hindu & Urdu - fluent and happy to consult in both languages
- Arabic - An everyday understanding from living in the Middle East but not at a fluency level to feel confident at consulting in this language
Clinical articles and research papers
Dr Gupta has an academic interest in all issues related to woman’s mental health. She has published her work ‘Menopause and Schizophrenia’ in peer reviewed journals and presented her work at National and International conferences.
