Dr Saira Khan is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)-registered chartered counselling psychologist and human rights advocate who originally trained and worked as a licensed therapist (LCSW) in California after graduating from UCLA and Columbia University in New York City. Her doctorate research explored post-traumatic growth and best practice with gender-based violence. In the UK, her doctoral training, supervision and research focused on evidence-based trauma-focused therapies for complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). Her specialist therapeutic modalities are eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapies.
Position at Priory
Dr Saira Khan joined Priory in 2022 as part of the day care team at Priory Hospital Roehampton, where she ran groups and was part of the outpatient therapy team, where she sees people on an individual basis or as part of mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) groups.
Training
Supervised in cognitive behavioural, systemic, relational and integrative therapeutic models to meet complex client needs, including dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and EMDR.
