About
Dr Sonia Kalsi is a UK-trained counselling psychologist and psychotherapist, with over 26 years of experience in the field of mental health. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings including the NHS, education, and the voluntary sector. She has also worked in various roles, as a clinician, consultant, trainer and manager of a counselling service in a university. Having worked in several universities in the UK and Australia for the past 15 years, her research area of interest is student suicide, and she continues to offer consultancy and training on student suicidality to universities.
Sonia has been providing psychological support to adults for the past 10 years and managed her own private practice for 6 years. She has extensive experience in supporting individuals with a range of psychological issues including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, stress, mood instability, psychosis, eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, suicide, self-harm and bereavement.
Sonia believes in a human’s inherent capacity for change and healing, and viewing every client as a unique individual with specific needs and life experiences, she integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches to best suit clients’ needs. She provides a safe and confidential space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, and embodies warmth, empathy, authenticity, integrity and compassion. She also likes to work collaboratively with clients, instilling hope, and empowering them to make significant changes in their lives.

Dr Sonia Kalsi is a chartered counselling psychologist and integrative psychotherapist and has been working at Priory since July 2021. She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council, British Psychological Society and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
