About

Emma is a calm and compassionate integrative psychotherapist who is also able to integrate creativity and the arts into therapy, where helpful. Emma is passionate about working with the whole person, looking beyond labels and considering openly what the client brings, in an inclusive and respectful manner. Emma’s priority is creating a safe and stable relationship where clients are able to explore what they need to, and she is skilled at being able to creatively meet her clients where they are at, supporting them to get what they need out of the therapeutic encounter.

As an integrative arts psychotherapist, Emma aims to both nurture and challenge, with training and experience that equips her with the skills to explore what her clients bring from multiple angles. She uses a range of creative techniques and theoretical approaches to form a unique treatment plan for each client.

Emma has 14 years’ experience working within NHS mental health services. She spent 10 of those years working as a specialist in severe and enduring eating disorders at a senior level. She is experienced working with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (BED), atypical presentations and people who don’t fit neatly into a diagnosis and struggle with disordered eating to a mild, moderate or severe degree.

Emma is comfortable working with complexity, and supporting people who may be experiencing other issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD (CPTSD), autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), personality disorders, addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, issues with identity, grief and loss, past traumatic experiences such as childhood abuse, living with domestic abuse or growing up where there may have been adverse childhood experiences such as neglect, parental mental or physical health issues or difficult family relationships, among others.

Emma values offering a trauma-informed approach. Where needed, Emma will incorporate trauma protocols such as children’s accelerated trauma technique (CATT) or the rewind technique) to work with CPTSD or PTSD symptoms.

Emma is able to offer National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended eating disorder treatment, such as the Maudsley Model for Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA), specialist supportive clinical management (SSCM) and food psychodynamic therapy (FPT). She also offers psychodynamic/integrative eating disorder therapy, and art psychotherapy, as well offering a bespoke therapy tailored to the needs of the client.
