About
I have been working as a therapeutic counsellor in the field of addictions treatment since 2015 and have diverse experience in both the private and charitable sectors, practicing in residential and community-based treatment settings as well as frontline drug and alcohol services.
Problems with substances do not develop in a vacuum and invariably exist alongside other factors such as stress, trauma, developmental/attachment issues, depression, anxiety, bereavement, inter-personal relationships, and complex mental health.
Being acutely aware of the stigma and shame that can accompany mental health problems, I appreciate the importance of creating a safe space in which to contain the therapeutic process and aim to combine evidence-based practice with a client-centred, integrative, creative approach, tailored to meet individual needs and goals.
Before joining the Priory Wellbeing Centre, Canterbury, I worked for a national charity in their community-based rehabilitation centre, having a passion for working within therapeutic communities and a commitment to providing treatment to those who might otherwise be unable to access services. I also volunteer for South East and Central Essex MIND and Norfolk & Waveney MIND as part of their low-cost counselling service.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and am guided by the ethical principles which underpin their code of practice.
