About
James is a BACP accredited, qualified therapist with experience of a wide range of presenting issues both in private practice and in the charity sector. He graduated as a psychodynamic counsellor in 2017 and has since completed a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the CPCAB in 2021.
James’ integrative approach is based on an understanding that there is a link between the past and the present, without assuming there is a direct cause and effect for a presenting problem. Instead, there is an understanding that feelings and learned responses from childhood can have an impact on how we respond and react in adult life. From this, core beliefs can be challenged, and clients can empower themselves to make their own positive decisions.
He has amassed over 2000 practice hours and has worked with various presentations including:
- Complex bereavement
- Anxiety
- Depression
- LGBTQ issues
- Living with illness
- Living with neuro-divergence such as autism and ADHD
- Bipolar disorder
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Trauma and childhood trauma
- Living with and surviving abuse
