About
My primary training is as a cognitive behavioural counsellor but I have wider knowledge of other therapeutic approaches and therefore define myself as eclectic in my style of working. I have particular experience of supporting adults through loss and grief, domestic abuse, and trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have a background in human resources and occupational health, and have also worked with several employee assistance programmes (EAPs) delivering mental health initiatives to educate professionals, emergency service workers and corporate business professionals. My work is short-term, solution-focused and trauma-informed. I am committed to offering a safe, confidential and nurturing environment where I can work collaboratively with clients to explore the source of their difficulties and find a way forward towards a renewed wellbeing.
Position at Priory
I am a specialist cognitive behavioural therapist, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also hold membership with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I have operated as a practitioner for 20 years and joined the therapeutic team at Priory in September 2022.
Training
I hold a Level 5 Higher National Diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and a Level 6 qualification in counselling supervision.
I support and nurture the development of good quality counsellors, being a fully qualified teacher in further and higher education, holding Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
