About
Jane is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered clinical psychologist who works with adults. She approaches her clients' difficulties with curiosity, compassion and empathy. She places a lot of value on working with clients to gain a deeper insight into the source of their difficulties and from there, works collaboratively with them to enhance their wellbeing and quality of life. Jane's therapeutic approach is primarily informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) frameworks. She works in an integrative and collaborative manner, allowing the therapeutic intervention to be responsive to the specific needs of the client.
Before qualifying as a clinical psychologist, Jane first trained as a neuropsychologist. Her combined training as a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist allows for a complex appreciation of her clients’ difficulties.
Jane has experience working with patients across the lifespan in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She has experience working with a wide range of difficulties, including mood and anxiety difficulties, life adjustments, trauma, identity exploration and existential issues, relationship difficulties, insomnia, neurodevelopmental conditions and neurological conditions. She also has experience working with medically unexplained physical conditions, and adjustment to living with medical conditions.
Position at Priory
Originally from South Africa, Jane has recently joined Priory after successfully registering with the HCPC, the governing body for clinical psychologists in the UK.
She works as a clinical psychologist in the Cedar therapy team, providing both one-to-one and group therapy.
Training
Jane obtained her clinical degree after completing her training at two tertiary level hospitals in Cape Town – Groote Schuur Hospital (where she also completed training as a neuropsychologist) and Valkenberg Hospital. She was also based at a community clinic during her training. After qualifying, she worked for a year at a correctional centre in Cape Town.
