Position at Priory
Kirsty is a senior therapist (drama therapist and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapist) at Priory Hospital Bristol, working with both the inpatient and outpatient programme. She delivers group and individual therapy, with a particular specialism in working with patients who have had traumatic experiences or complex developmental trauma.
Training
Kirsty holds an MA in Drama Therapy from Roehampton University. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and trained in EMDR. Kirsty joined Priory in 2024. Prior to this, she worked with child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) for children in care and adopted children, completing 5 years as a specialist mental health clinician and 7 years as team lead. She has also offered drama therapy to inpatient services for older adults, adolescents and in community services for children and young people, and adults with a learning disability.
Research interests
Kirsty has contributed to a feasibility study as a facilitator, in conjunction with the Anna Freud Centre, exploring the effectiveness of a group trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT) intervention (Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT)) with children in care.
