Lisa Martin

Interpersonal Psychotherpist

About

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over 25 years working in mental health. Prior to counselling, I worked in health care firstly as a general nurse, and then as a mental health nurse.

I am passionate about making a positive difference to the people that I see, and aim to provide a high quality individual service to my clients on their therapy journey. I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to explore their issues.

I have experience of working with clients both face to face and remotely. I am a practicing integrative therapist which means I offer various modalities of therapy to fit the client’s needs. I am also an accredited interpersonal psychotherapist (IPT). This therapy works on the relational aspects of a client’s difficulties, and is an effective and pragmatic approach to overcoming depression.

I am also experienced in CBT, mindfulness and compassion-focussed therapy, as well as in person-centred approach. I am a qualified life coach, and have recently expanded my skills to offer ADHD coaching.

I have worked for Priory both in a hospital and outpatient clinic setting. During this time I have facilitated groups, been a clinical supervisor, lead telephone assessment therapist , as well as building up my own individual client case load.

In my work I focus on the relational aspect of client’s difficulties. Interpersonal Psychotherapy is a focused and pragmatic approach to overcoming depression

In particular, I am interested in client’s stories of Depression to help gain a fuller understanding of their illness. I work with clients to identify relationships that are most likely to impact on their recovery, and focus on improving their communication skills, so that they may be able to improve significant relationships in their life.
