About
Matt is an experienced cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) therapist and supervisor, working in NHS and private settings for 10 years. During this time, Matt has offered CBT for common mental health problems such as depression and a range of anxiety disorders, including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias (needles, dentists, vomiting and others), health anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), perfectionism, low self-esteem and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Matt also has offered clinical supervision to other CBT therapists for several years now. In addition to CBT, he also draws on other models of therapy such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). In addition to this, he is also trained to work with people with mental health problems in the context of long-term health conditions and chronic pain.
Matt’s approach to therapy is collaborative and person-centred, which means that he tailors his treatment interventions to each person’s individual needs. He has a caring, intuitive and calming nature which enables him to develop strong therapeutic and trusting relationships with his patients. Matt is committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space and abides by the professional and ethical standards laid down by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He receives his own supervision in order to continuously reflect on and improve his clinical practice.
