About

Michele believes that therapy offers people the opportunity to grow an honest awareness of themselves in relation to others. She uses an integrated approach to help clients to find their true selves when they have adapted themselves to fit into families or environments that have not acknowledged or met their needs. She works with the parent, adult, child concepts of transactional analysis (Eric Berne) to reach the inner child. She helps clients to heal themselves in the present day by understanding and giving themselves the recognition and love that they didn’t get in the past.

Michele is a qualified therapist and supervisor. She has over 20 years’ extensive experience of working in the mental health and addiction fields, within the NHS, voluntary sector and private practice. She gained a great deal of her experience working with Mind, the leading mental health charity in the UK. She also has considerable experience working with young people at Off the Record, Bristol Children's Hospital and has also worked as a school counsellor for many years. Her greatest areas of interest are helping people recover from trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), especially those with a history of addiction or mental ill health. She supervises students and practitioners working with young people and adults with mental health and addiction issues.

Research has shown that the biggest factor for successful therapy does not lie in the type of therapy used, but in the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist. Even though I am psychodynamically trained, I integrate other forms of therapy to best meet the individual needs of every patient and their unique circumstances. This two-way dynamic enables and promotes growth within the patient as well as the therapist, thus strengthening the relationship and possible outcomes of the therapeutic process.
