About

Michelle is an experienced and qualified cognitive behavioural therapist and integrative relational counsellor, accredited with both the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is also a qualified and accredited interpersonal psychotherapy therapist (IPT). 

Michelle ensures she carries out an initial thorough assessment to explore what a client needs at the time of presenting for talking therapy. Michelle believes that building a strong therapeutic relationship is important to the effectiveness of therapy and has regularly received positive feedback from clients regarding the quality of their working relationship. Michelle has extensive experience gained from working in the NHS, in private practice, and in charitable and government services. She has helped clients with a range of presentations, which include depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, low self-esteem, substance misuse issues, attachment and relational issues, bereavement and loss.

Position at Priory

Michelle joined Priory as a sessional therapist in 2022. She sees clients either face-to-face at Wimbledon Park Clinic or remotely via video sessions or telephone. Michelle is an accredited member of BACP, BABCP and IPT UK.

Training

Michelle gained her diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2013 and worked as a counsellor for an addiction charity. She then went on to study counselling at degree level and graduated from The University of Middlesex in 2016 with a 1st class degree in Integrative Relational Counselling. Following graduation, Michelle worked as an integrative counsellor at Queen Mary’s University and then at the Houses of Parliament. In 2017, Michelle joined the NHS and then went on to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Royal Holloway University in 2018. Michelle has continued to work in the NHS since then as a senior psychological therapist as well as maintaining a private practice. She has also subsequently trained as a clinical supervisor as well as an IPT therapist.
