About
I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist, who has been trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for 9 years. I currently work with children, adults and couples. I have worked in mental health for 18 years in various clinical settings, alongside people needing support for a range of difficulties. I specialise in complex mental health and support individuals, couples and families who have been affected.
I have over 10 years’ experience of working with children, adults and families, aiming to help people explore challenging situations or relationships, understand how particular difficulties have risen, and help them to work through these difficulties. I have 7 years’ experience working with children and teenagers who have a learning disability and issues relating to school. I also see clients for various other struggles and work collaboratively to explore what is behind their anxiety and depression, and help them to build self-esteem.
My approach is friendly and collaborative. I provide a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental place for you to explore and work through difficulties, in order to foster a greater sense of wellbeing. We all face challenges and experience problems that can affect us in different ways. Sometimes, this can put pressure on individuals, couples, families and relationships and affect wellbeing. Together, we will talk about your difficulties and explore ways to overcome or minimise the effects they have on your daily life. I offer a range of recommended therapies, including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy (PCT) and solution-focused therapy (SFT). I believe in tailoring the therapy to my client's needs. Often, the therapeutic package I offer will draw on a mix of therapeutic techniques, designed to optimise individuals’ and couples' mental wellbeing.
I have also previously worked as a service manager for adult and young person services, supporting people who have struggled with a range of mental health difficulties. I have 5 years’ experience at managerial level in supported accommodation, residential services and semi-independent services, with clients struggling with mental health problems and learning disabilities. I have over 6 years’ experience working with people who have needed applied behaviour analysis (ABA) to support them with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and global developmental delay.
