About
Dr Nagasinghe completed her undergraduate medical degree (second class honors) at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2008. She completed her foundation year training in a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka prior to moving into UK. She completed her Master’s Degree in clinical and experimental medicine (achieving a distinction in research methodology) at University College London (UCL) prior to entering psychiatry training. She completed both core and higher training at South West London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, during which she attained her membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych). During the period of her higher training, she completed a fellowship in leadership and management through RCPsych where she managed to upskill and broaden horizons in her passion for medical leadership. She is passionate in therapeutic approaches when providing care for young people, hence has formal training for both systemic therapy (intermediate level through Prudent Skynner) and mentalisation-based therapy (Anna Freud Centre).
Dr Nagasinghe is a firm believer in a multidisciplinary approach in mental health, and strives to provide a holistic bio-psychosocial model when managing young people under her care. She has a wealth of experience in working under different inpatient settings (including intellectual disability, general adult psychiatry, old age psychiatry, medium secure services, low secure services, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), CAMHS eating disorders and deaf CAMHS), in the NHS and private sector. She has experience in working with young people in inpatient and outpatient settings, while managing complex clinical presentations. She also has formal training such as ADOS-2, ADI-R and 3Di to assess young people for autism.
Dr Nagasinghe joined Priory Hospital Roehampton in August 2022 as a substantive consultant in the outpatient department and Priory London young people’s inpatient service. She worked as the responsible clinician at Lower Court, the NHS general adolescent unit (GAU), from April 2023 onwards. She is the lead clinician in the brand new Kingston Court, a private inpatient unit for adolescents, while managing service development. In Kingston Court, she manages young people with significant mental health needs, with support from a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
