Get help for depression at Priory

While it’s normal for everyone to feel sad or upset from time-to-time, if these feelings are intense or are affecting your quality of life, you may be suffering with depression.

Depression is a common mental health condition that’s characterised by feelings of sadness, low mood and a lack of interest in things you once enjoyed. Without treatment, it can have a negative impact on all areas of your life, which is why it’s so important to get support if you’re struggling. At Priory, we offer specialist depression treatment in London, tailored to your individual needs. Our expert team is dedicated to helping you manage your symptoms, improve your mental wellbeing and regain control of your life.

Private depression treatment in London

Our Priory sites in London and Southern England specialise in treating depression, helping you get your life back on track. We offer residential (inpatient) support and outpatient therapy at our hospitals and treatment centres within the Greater London area. These include our flagship site, Priory Hospital Roehampton, as well as Priory Hospitals Woking, Hayes Grove and Chelmsford.

We also deliver outpatient therapy at our Harley Street Wellbeing Centre. Priory's leading depression specialists are committed to providing expert therapy and treatment, tailored to your unique circumstances, helping you to make a strong recovery.

Therapy assessments

Priory provides fast access to treatment, with therapy assessments starting at £105. After your assessment, you’ll receive a personalised recommendations report, which we’ll use to create a comprehensive, tailored treatment plan just for you.

Introducing rTMS treatment

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a safe, effective and non-invasive method for treating depression, which uses rapidly changing magnetic fields to stimulate areas of the brain that are involved in mood regulation. rTMS is typically used for people who have treatment-resistant depression (TRD). These are people who’ve already received other forms of treatment, such as medication or talking therapy, but haven’t seen an improvement in their condition.

rTMS can also be useful for people who aren’t able to take or tolerate antidepressants. While rTMS can be useful when previous treatments haven’t worked, it can also be used as a first-line treatment for depression. In addition, you can receive rTMS alongside therapy and medication, in order to complement these traditional treatment approaches. rTMS is evidence-based and has been approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a depression treatment method.

We are proud to offer outpatient rTMS treatment at Priory Wellbeing Centre Harley Street, which is one of the few places in the country where this state-of-the-art treatment can be accessed.
