From chaos, to facing my future
My journey and experience at Kemple View has been a great success and I am so glad I came to Kemple View. I feel I am ready to face my future.
My life was chaotic before I came to Kemple View and when I first arrived, I did not know what to expect. I soon found out there was certain things I needed to achieve in order to move forward from this service.
My life was chaotic before I came to Kemple View and when I first arrived, I did not know what to expect. I soon found out there was certain things I needed to achieve in order to move forward from this service. At first I found it difficult, and my sleep pattern was poor. I got put on another medication which I needed to get used to, and I spent the first six months poorly engaging and wanting to spend a long time through the day in my room, not really speaking to the staff.
Eventually I decided to make some effort and with encouragement, I started to attend the gym. This started to help me with my sleep pattern. I asked to be woken at 9am daily and with staff support I got myself up. After a few days my body clock was reset.
After this I really started to do all the activities offered to me and got into a routine, which massively helped me. Since then I have got better and better and better! Also going to psychology sessions and looking at my mental health and substance misuse had a big impact on me changing for the better.
I could not believe what was happening to me and how I was feeling and it created so much positivity in me. This was with the encouragement and motivating support from staff.
I have gained confidence and Kemple View has given me so many opportunities, including doing speeches to other patients on the other wards, about my experiences. I also had the confidence then to go and do this in front of 200 people at a conference!
