About this location
Priory Daffodil House is a residential service, opening soon in Pontypridd, South Wales. We provide support to males and females between the ages of 18 and 65, who are on the autistic spectrum who may also be presenting with complex needs.
We aim to help residents create and achieve goals, in order to lead a fulfilled and enriched life.
The service can also meet the needs of those who have:
- Mental health needs
- A learning disability
- Epilepsy

About our service
Our facilities and environment
All our flats are single-person occupancy and are on the ground floor. They include robust fixed furniture and anti-flood bathrooms, and we cater for wheelchair and mobility needs where required.
All flats and bungalows also provide:
- Single person occupancy
- A lounge
- Kitchen
- A communal area in the main house
Bungalows include secure gardens and a break out room.
Our bedrooms
All of our bedrooms are comfortable, welcoming and can be personalised to individual tastes. Our accommodation is split over two floors, with four bedrooms being situated on the ground floor.
In addition, four of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, three have showers and one just has an en-suite toilet. All of the bedrooms have sinks.
Our approach to support
Everybody who lives at Daffodil House, has their own person-centred care plan, which is co-produced with input from the individual, their family members and professionals involved in their care. We aim to help everyone in our care to make their own choices about the support they receive. This may include support in a number of areas, such as going out in the community.

In addition, we use tools such as the Outcomes Star™ to support our residents to achieve their goals.
Pathways
Through our network of healthcare, residential and supported living facilities, we provide unique care pathways which enable the people we support to progress towards greater independence. Nearby Priory hospitals include Priory Hospital Cardiff and Priory Hospital Llanarth Court.
Every individual we support is provided with a bespoke pathway plan, tailored according to their individual needs. We aim to ensure that each person is supported to live a fulfilling and active life in the community.
Our team
Our highly experienced team will include a dedicated positive behaviour support (PBS) practitioner and a clinical psychiatrist.
Our team receive all the specialist mandatory training, including additional autism training, designed to meet the needs of each individual we support.

Family and friends FAQs
How does home leave work?
We are happy to facilitate home visits and leave, with the consent of the resident.
Can friends and families visit?
We don’t have restrictions on visiting times and we encourage family and friends to visit. We would prefer advanced notice, to ensure the wellbeing of the rest of the residents.
Will I be involved and kept up to date with the progress of my loved one’s care and support?
Yes, we keep the loved ones of our residents informed of progress and wellbeing, where appropriate. Families are also invited to speak on the phone, or visit.
Will my loved one be able to have a phone or call me?
Everyone who stays with us are supported to call their loved ones any time, via phone or video call. Family and friends are also able to call as often as they like.
What are the bedrooms like?
All of our bedrooms are comfortable, welcoming and can be personalised to individual tastes.
Are external doors kept locked?
Yes, our external doors are kept locked to ensure the safety of our residents. However, every resident will be risk assessed to determine the level of security needed to keep them safe.
What do residents eat and how do meal times work?
Residents are supported to choose and prepare their meals, and we strive to promote a well-balanced diet. We encourage people to get involved in the kitchen, where they are able.
How does laundry work?
Our staff team support residents to their own laundry and this is treated like an activity. We will always ensure residents have clean bedding and clothing.
Who does the housekeeping tasks?
Daffodil House has a housekeeper who ensures the service is maintained. We also encourage the people we support to engage in domestic tasks, and life skills.
Is there anything they can’t bring or have?
Residents are not allowed to bring illegal substances onto the premises. Other items that may pose a hazard may be restricted, subject to a risk assessment.
How do activities work?
Everyone who lives at Daffodil House has their own personalised activities planner and are encouraged to take part in activities which are meaningful and fulfilling to them. Our dedicated team organise a variety of activities at the home, as well as out in the community.
How will residents be supported with their behavioural needs?
Our PBS practitioner will work with residents to understand their needs, and put in place the right support to meet these; each resident will have their own PBS plan, and staff are trained in the correct strategies to support that person. We also use the PROACT-SCIPr-UK® framework, which means advocate for using the least restrictive practice in our support.
Do residents and families have an input into the care plans?

What are the car parking facilities?
We have a car park to the front of the property.
What is the smoking policy?
Residents can smoke by the designated smoking area. We don’t permit smoking inside the building, and this includes vapes.
What are your fees and how are they funded?
Our fees can vary and are based on an assessment of each individual's needs. Many people are eligible for financial help towards the cost of support, and this funding can be accessed by contacting your local authority. Once funding has been agreed, we will work with your local care team to put together a bespoke package of care. Please note, referrals for NHS or Local Authority funded services must come from a referring organisation.
