Our approach to support
Everybody who lives at Cedar Tree House has their own person-centred support plan, which is co-produced with input from the individual, their family members, and professionals.
We aim to enable each tenant to make their own choices about the support they receive. This may include support in a number of areas, such as upkeep of personal care, managing medication, food preparation and cooking, cleaning and laundry, managing finances including budgeting and debt management, how to maintain a tenancy, holding down relationships with family and friends, support with a healthy diet and exercise, and booking and attending health appointments.
In addition, our team receive specialist staff training, bespoke to the needs of each individual we support. This includes:
- Epilepsy awareness training
- PROACT-SCIPr-UK® training
- Diabetes management training
- People handling training
Activities
Cedar Tree House tenants are supported to pursue their own interests and hobbies, both in and outside the home, and are encouraged to take part in activities which are meaningful and fulfilling to them.
We also support our tenants to attend community and leisure activities such as:
- Sports events
- Theatre trips
- Disco evenings
- Holidays
- Weekends away
We focus on supporting tenants to grow their independence. For some people, this may mean developing their daily living skills within their home. For others, this could be accessing work or educational opportunities in the local community.
