Our approach to support
Everyone who lives at Orchard House has their own person-centred support plan, which is co-produced with input from the individual, their family members and professionals.
We aim to enable each tenant to make their own choices about the support they receive. This may include support in a number of areas, such as personal care, taking their medication, food preparation and cooking, cleaning and laundry, managing finances, maintaining a tenancy, maintaining relationships with family and friends, maintaining emotional and mental wellbeing, and maintaining physical health and wellbeing (healthy diet, exercise, booking and attending health appointments).
In addition, our team receives specialist staff training, bespoke to the needs of each individual we support. This includes:
- Epilepsy awareness training
- PROACT-SCIPr-UK® training
Activities
Everyone who lives at Orchard House is supported to pursue their own interests and hobbies, both in and outside the home, and are encouraged to take part in activities which are meaningful and fulfilling to them.
We focus on supporting tenants to grow their independence. For some people, this may mean developing their daily living skills within their home. For others, this could be accessing work or educational opportunities in the local community.
We also support our tenants to attend community and leisure activities, such as:
- Swimming
- Going to the theatre
- Day trips
- Holidays
