Priory Whitrout Road is a supported living service, located in Hartlepool, County Durham. We provide support to males and females between the ages of 18 and 65, who have mental health needs or have an autism diagnosis. The property is designed to enable residents to live as independently as possible, while receiving tailored support.

About our services
Approach to support
Everybody who lives at Whitrout Road, has their own person-centred care plan, which is co-produced with input from the individual, their family members and professionals involved in their care. We aim to help everyone in our care to make their own choices about the support they receive. This may include support in a number of areas, such as going out in the community.
Our support approaches include:
- Positive behaviour support (PBS)
- Personal goal planning
- Assistance with developing life skills, such as meal preparation and managing personal hygiene
- Community access and travel training
- Access to therapeutic and planned interventions
In addition, we use tools such as the Outcomes Star™ to support our residents to achieve their goals.

Pathways

Our dedicated and experienced staff team will include:
- A positive behaviour support (PBS) practitioner
- Staff trained in mental health and autism support
- 24-hour staffing, including waking night staff
All staff undergo specialist training to meet the unique needs of residents, ensuring a high standard of care and support.

How does home leave work?
We facilitate home visits and leave, with the consent of the resident.
Can friends and families visit?
Yes, we encourage visits from family and friends. We recommend advance notice to ensure minimal disruption to other residents.
How are care plans developed?
Care plans are co-produced with input from residents, families, and support networks, ensuring all support is tailored to individual needs.
What is the smoking policy?
Smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas only. Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside the property.
What are the fees and funding options?
Fees vary based on individual assessments. Many residents are eligible for financial assistance through local authorities. Priory works closely with referring organisations to create bespoke packages of care.
What activities are available?
Residents have personalised activity plans and are encouraged to participate in meaningful activities both on-site and in the community. Group sessions, such as CV building and budgeting workshops, are also available.
How are behavioural needs supported?
Our PBS practitioner develops bespoke support plans for each resident. Staff are trained in strategies such as PROACT-SCIPr-UK® to use the least restrictive practices.
