Priory chief executive reiterates need for reform and desire to collaborate following election

Date: 5th July 2024

Priory chief executive Rebekah Cresswell has congratulated Sir Keir Starmer and his Labour Party on their election win and highlighted the need to collaborate on solutions to the challenges facing the health and social care system.

She outlined Priory’s key priorities for the next government at the start of the election campaign and will look to continue discussions on these in the comings weeks.

“On behalf of Priory, I would like to congratulate Sir Keir Starmer, Wes Streeting and their Labour colleagues on the party’s successful election campaign and wish them well as they embark on their term in office,” she said.

“The need for reform within the health and social care system is clear and we want to be part of the solution.

“During the election campaign, I wrote to all main parties in the UK to outline our priorities for the next government and I will be doing so again in the coming days.

“As the largest independent provider of mental health and adult social care services, we are keen to collaborate on solutions to the significant challenges facing the sector.

“We are proud partners to the NHS and our local authorities and understand how closely effective social care is linked to a strong and stable NHS.

“Greater integration between the two is vital to ensure all patients, care home residents, their families and carers receive the care and support they need.”
