Free mental health tests

These tests are quick, confidential, and easy to use, providing you with initial insights within minutes. They are designed to be a first step in recognising signs of mental health conditions, enabling you to make informed decisions about seeking further support.

Please note, these tools are not a substitute for professional diagnosis but can guide you on whether seeking professional advice might be a beneficial next step.

How our online tests work

  • Select a test: Begin by choosing the test you wish to take. Click on the test to start.
  • Answer each question: Each test consists of a series of questions related to your feelings and behaviours. For each question, several response options will be provided. Select the option that best reflects how you feel or have been feeling recently.
  • Navigate through: After selecting your answer, click 'Continue' to proceed to the next question. Repeat this process until you have answered all the questions in the test.
  • View Your Results: Upon completing the test, you will be directed to a results page which displays your overall score. This score helps to indicate the presence and potential intensity of any symptoms you may be experiencing.
  • Read next steps: Based on your score, the results page will also provide recommendations and guidance on accessing further support. This might include contacting healthcare professionals, exploring therapeutic options, or other supportive resources.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, you should take action immediately:

  • Dial 999 for the emergency services
  • Attend your local A&E department
  • Contact your out-of-hours GP service. Google ‘out of hours GP in x’ (give your location)
  • Contact your local 24-hour NHS Urgent Mental Health Helpline
