About our online anxiety test

What you need to know before taking our anxiety test.

Mental health is something we all navigate daily. Feeling worried from time-to-time is part of life, but when these feelings become overwhelming or persistent, it could be a sign of anxiety.

If you’ve been feeling more anxious than usual, taking our anxiety test could offer you a clearer understanding of what you’re going through. This simple seven-question test can be completed in just a few minutes and may help you to:

  • Reflect on your recent feelings of worry or unease
  • Better understand the symptoms of anxiety
  • Consider possible next steps for managing your anxiety

It’s important to remember that this test doesn’t offer a diagnosis for anxiety. However, it can be a useful first step to gauge whether anxiety might be affecting you. To get started, click the button below, or continue reading to find out who this test is for and what your results could mean.

Take our anxiety test

Take the test to determine whether you might be struggling with an anxiety disorder.

Who should take this test?

This test is ideal for people who think they may be experiencing anxiety, have noticed a dip in their mental wellbeing, or simply want to gain a better understanding of their current state of mind.
You might find this test helpful if you’ve been noticing any of the following:

  • Persistent feelings of nervousness, restlessness or worry
  • Struggling to control or reduce your anxious thoughts
  • Physical symptoms like muscle tension, sweating or a racing heart
  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing on tasks
  • A general sense of dread or feeling ‘on edge’

What does the anxiety test measure?

Our anxiety test is built around the GAD-7, or Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7, which is a widely recognised tool that’s used to assess anxiety levels. The questions ask about common feelings and behaviours that people with anxiety might experience.

To get the most accurate results, it’s important to take your time to consider how frequently you've felt or behaved in the way described, over the last 2 weeks.

How reliable is this anxiety test?

This test isn’t intended to replace a professional diagnosis. Anxiety and other mental health conditions can only be properly assessed and diagnosed by a qualified clinician. However, the results can give you a clearer sense of whether you might be experiencing anxiety and help guide your next steps.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, you should take action immediately:

  • Dial 999 for the emergency services
  • Attend your local A&E department
  • Contact your out-of-hours GP service. Google ‘out of hours GP in x’ (give your location)
  • Contact your local 24-hour NHS Urgent Mental Health Helpline

For additional support, you might also want to reach out to a mental health helpline. We provide contact details for a range of helplines on our crisis support page.
