About

I have worked as a general adult psychiatrist within the NHS for over 10 years and at consultant level since 2019. I have gained experience in a variety of services throughout my training, including acute wards and community mental health services.

I also have 5 years’ experience working as a consultant for a local NHS crisis home treatment team, assessing and managing complex clients, whilst leading a multidisciplinary team. This team managed clients at risk of admission, supporting them to remain at home for their care.

More recently, I progressed to work as a perinatal consultant psychiatrist, working with pregnant and postnatal women in the community.

Additionally, I have extensive experience working with patients diagnosed with anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders or personality disorders. This includes patients of working age and older patients.

Having an interest in psychotherapy, allows me to offer a psychological perspective as well as the medical perspective when care planning. I am currently developing my skills in cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) and using these skills clinically with patients.

I am also trained in Open Dialogue, a model of mental health care that focuses on collaboratively working with clients and their families, taking time to understand patients’ mental health difficulties in the context of their social network and life experiences.

I am holistic in my practice and have a particular interest in lifestyle medicine and practising mindfulness, considering this in psychiatric care planning.
